How it happened

The community owned store at the heart of our village was set up in 2011 after a group of locals got together, formed a committee and brought to life the idea of having a community owned village shop and post office. A Herculean effort from a small group of people which has grown in to something brilliant. A perfect example of how a community can work together and do great things. RVS is now a hive of activity serving locals and visitors in the area. Run by our brilliant store manager and postmistress Kath and her wonderful team.

There was a huge amount of work behind the scenes at start up, here's some pictures showing the 2014 interior refurbishment in process, a small group of volunteers and tradespeople worked hard to transform the space, this included a new kitchen area to enable onsite baking and preparation space for the cafe, more stock shelving and the Post Office counter
