COMMUNITY FIELD

The planning application submission for the second part of the community field, the field closest to the road, has now been made through our Planning Consultant, Clive Stillman. We are just waiting for it to go live on the Wealden District Council Planning website.

We are hopeful that we may receive our planning permissions in the Autumn, such that the work on the field can be completed over the Autumn of 2026 and the Spring of 2027. Once in receipt of the planning permissions, we will hold a community event to describe the plan.

We have had to change things a little bit because, when the ecology survey was completed a badger set was found, so we have placed an exclusion zone around this area to protect the wildlife.

The water supply to the field has now been reconnected and we will continue to have a trough in the field with a stand pipe so that watering cans can be filled when we water the trees which have been planted.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Maintenance of the field is now a priority for RACCA. Alex Cheales has helpfully agreed to lead the maintenance effort. There will be a regular Saturday morning for maintenance which is the first Saturday of each month from 9am ‘til 11am. WE NEED VOLUNTEERS it would be very much appreciated if people could put these dates in their diary and make themselves available for a couple of hours a month, to help maintain the community space. Refreshments will be served.

There is a WhatsApp group to help co-ordinate these maintenance days. If you would like to join please email help@racca.org.uk with a mobile number and we will add you to the WhatsApp group so you can easily be kept up to date.

Les Morley of Chalvington continues to cut the community field. We have decided that some areas should be left to become wilder areas. This is in keeping with the original planning permissions and the views of residents when the community space was first discussed.

SAVE THE DATE FETE AND FUN DOG SHOW

SATURDAY 26th SEPTEMBER

We are excited to announce we will be holding a fete and dog show once again, a great fun afternoon for everyone, children’s games, food, drinks and music, with a big chance for your four legged loved ones to perform and win best in show! This is to raise funds for the grass cutting and our running cost, insurance etc. Volunteers to help with this event are very welcome so if you would like to get involved please come to our Fete Planning Meeting on Wednesday 15th July at the community field (if its bad weather the meeting will be in the Yew Tree Inn, Chalvington) This event was very well attended last year and everyone involved in running was part of a great team effort so why not be part of the fun? Come along to the meeting on the 15th July.

COME TO OUR MEETINGS, GET INVOLVED

RACCA meetings are open to everyone and we welcome new attendees, more people involved means less work for each person to do, so please come along and join in however little time you can spare. We all have different skills and bringing them together makes a very powerful team, this is your community...be part of something great!

If you are interested in taking a more active role within the Community Association please message us at hello@racca.org.uk

DONATE

All donations however small are very much appreciated. For example, if 200 people donated just £5 each we would raise enough money to cover most mowing and maintenance costs for an entire year.

You can donate at any time via our website here DONATE TO RACCA

Any donation is very gratefully received.

If you are interested in taking a more active role in fundraising please message us at hello@racca.org.uk
